VCH — Vehicle Care History started from my own experience of maintaining my cars.
I do many of the jobs myself — servicing, oil and filter changes, brakes, transmission servicing and other general maintenance. For jobs that require more experience or specialist tools, I relay on profesionals.
But whichever way the work gets done, I kept running into the same problem:
When did I do it? What was the mileage? Which parts did I use? How much did I spend? And where did I put that receipt?
Parts might come from an online purchase or a local parts shop. Receipts get lost, invoices disappear and sometimes all you get from a mechanic is a small piece of paper. A few years later, it can be surprisingly difficult to prove how well a vehicle has actually been maintained.
That's why I created VCH.
One vehicle. One history.
VCH gives every vehicle one organised digital history. As soon as you buy a part, carry out a repair or collect your vehicle from a garage, you can record it — adding the date, mileage, parts, cost, notes, receipts, invoices and photos before any of that information gets lost.
It's also about understanding the real cost of ownership. Servicing, repairs, parts, fuel, roadworthiness tests, road tax, insurance and other expenses can all be recorded in one place.
And VCH isn't only for cars. It's being designed for cars, vans, motorcycles, scooters, motorhomes, trailers, bicycles and other vehicles worth looking after.
A community that helps each other
Working on your own vehicle doesn't mean you always know the answer. I've often been halfway through a job and wished I could simply ask someone who had already done it.
That's why VCH also includes a community forum where owners and enthusiasts can discuss problems, ask for advice, share repairs and help others with their experience.
The same applies to parts. Older or unusual vehicles can be difficult to find parts for. Another VCH member with the same vehicle might know where to find one, know what alternative fits, or even have the part you need.
A marketplace with history
VCH also aims to create a different kind of vehicle marketplace. There are plenty of websites where someone can buy a vehicle today and advertise it tomorrow with a few photographs and the words “well maintained.”
VCH is about something different: documented ownership. If someone has used VCH for years, their vehicle can have a genuine timeline of services, repairs, mileage, roadworthiness records, receipts, photographs and parts fitted. When it's time to sell, that history can be shared with the next owner.
It doesn't guarantee that a vehicle is perfect — but it gives a buyer something much more useful than promises: evidence and transparency.
The goal is to build a marketplace where genuinely cared-for vehicles can stand out because their history speaks for itself.
